Behind the Scenes – Lights, Camera, Action!
It’s been a crazy busy week at our office with the planning and filming of our new “How To” product videos. We’ve been writing, editing, shooting, and editing again — it's a lot of work, but so much fun at the same time.
Here’s a sneak peek of what we did:

Jazz Up Your Door with a Fall Wreath
With the arrival of fall the beautiful flowers on your porch may be starting to look drab and dull, which means it’s time to do a little autumn decorating. Hanging a fall wreath on your front door is the perfect way to add a little bit of seasonal color to your home. The wreath will jazz up your front door instantly, add curb appeal, and create a nice welcome for friends and family.
Don’t Wreck Your Posters or Walls
Dorm rooms are tricky to decorate since you can’t hammer anything on the walls, but most students want to make their space "their own" by putting up plenty of cool posters. The solution is to use painter’s tape or another low adhesive tape that peels off easily without damaging the walls or wrecking your posters. Use a different color of tape to enhance each piece you’re hanging or use the same color throughout. Tape all the corners like we did here, or frame the whole piece with tape to create a faux frame. There are no rules, so have fun with it.
How to protect your picture frames
Since you possibly can't have all of your artwork hanging on your walls all at once, where do you store the extras? Under the bed (like I do)? Behind the couch? In the back of a closet?

Affordable Kids Room Refres
This is my daughter’s newly decorated bedroom at the cottage. We painted the walls, moved the furniture around, hung some kids’ artwork and wow, what a difference it made! As you can see it was desperately in need of a makeover. When we bought our cottage, we literally unpacked our bags and started enjoying it the way it was, knowing that one day we’d renovate it. We finally did it...

Big Box Store Wall Art
I like to think of hanging pictures as creating fashion for walls. Sometimes fashionable buys come from surprising places, so I wanted to share this simple yet elegant wall display I created using art from a big box store. This tall skinny wall in my daughter’s bedroom was begging for attention. The challenge was to find art that would look stylish on such a narrow wall and that would also look good...
How to Antique a Mirror
I’m always amazed at what a huge difference a bit of paint can make. This old mirror, once part of a dresser set, had been sitting in my garage for years. I didn’t want to get rid of it — I knew that one day I’d find a home for it and I’m happy to say I finally did. I gave the mirror a coat of paint and within an...
Nature Inspired Bathroom Décor
This charming Bambi shower curtain was the décor inspiration for my black and white bathroom at the cottage. Since we’re surrounded by woods and lakes, we often see wildlife. This “dear” curtain was a creative way to bring the outdoors in and guarantee an animal sighting every single day. Lol! When decorating the bathroom, I had originally planned to hang a white framed mirror, but it looked too pale and...
This Kids’ Study Space Gets an A+
Getting ready for back to school is not only about the backpack and the clothes, it's also about carving out a comfortable place in your home for your kids to do their homework. If you have more than one child who needs a study space, why not consider a long narrow table for them to share?
Foolproof Tip to Hang Magnetic or Other Small Boards
Hanging magnetic boards, corkboards, and small chalkboards straight on the first try may seem like an easy thing to do — until you actually have to do it. These kinds of boards usually come with four sticky double-sided adhesive pads that you place on each corner. While it may be easy to stick on, once the board is up on the wall it's tough to straighten it even if you applied very little pressure on it to start with. More often than not, you end up either removing the pad from the back of the board or risk damaging your wall.
