Nature Inspired Bathroom Décor

Nature Inspired Bathroom Décor

This charming Bambi shower curtain was the décor inspiration for my black and white bathroom at the cottage. Since we’re surrounded by woods and lakes, we often see wildlife. This “dear” curtain was a creative way to bring the outdoors in and guarantee an animal sighting every single day. Lol! When decorating the bathroom, I had originally planned to hang a white framed mirror, but it looked too pale and...

This Kids’ Study Space Gets an A+

Getting ready for back to school is not only about the backpack and the clothes, it's also about carving out a comfortable place in your home for your kids to do their homework. If you have more than one child who needs a study space, why not consider a long narrow table for them to share?

Foolproof Tip to Hang Magnetic or Other Small Boards

Foolproof Tip to Hang Magnetic or Other Small Boards

Hanging magnetic boards, corkboards, and small chalkboards straight on the first try may seem like an easy thing to do — until you actually have to do it. These kinds of boards usually come with four sticky double-sided adhesive pads that you place on each corner. While it may be easy to stick on, once the board is up on the wall it's tough to straighten it even if you applied very little pressure on it to start with. More often than not, you end up either removing the pad from the back of the board or risk damaging your wall.

Whether you're hanging three picture frames above a headboard like in this inspiration picture from IKEA, or above a couch, a table, or a desk, the hanging strategy is the same.

How Much Does Your Art Weigh?

How Much Does Your Art Weigh?

Weighing art may sound silly or look funny (like in this picture), but you'll be surprised how helpful it is to know the weight of a piece when you're shopping for hanging hardware. Instead of second guessing yourself when standing in front of hundreds of fasteners, you'll be able to confidently purchase exactly what you need, eliminating the need for a return trip to the store.

UTR Keeps Active at the Office

As business owners, my partner and I value the importance of fitness both at work and at home, so we decided to help our staff stay active by introducing "Bikes To Go" in the office. Since biking to work is not an option for everyone, we brought two bikes to the office that are always ready to go. The bikes fit everyone's needs, have large tires, comfortable wide seats, a choice of three gears or no gears, and are easy to ride. It's a great way to enjoy some fresh air at lunch time, run (ride) some errands, explore the neighborhood, and to socialize with each other.

Dual Purpose Room For Laundry and Craft Projects

Dual Purpose Room For Laundry and Craft Projects

Your laundry room is probably the busiest room in the house and also likely the most neglected in terms of decorating.

So when we finished our basement (15 years ago), I made sure we'd make the over-used and under-decorated room a place that we'd want to spend time in. As a busy mom with young kids at the time, I decided to carve out a small craft area within the laundry room. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. While the kids were busy drawing, gluing, and painting, I'd be washing, folding, and ironing. The best part of having a dedicated craft corner in the basement is that the mess is out of sight — no longer were we using the dining room table for kids projects, we could actually use it for dining again!

9 Tips to Decorate a Study Space

Since imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, we had no guilt recreating the cover image of this IKEA back-to-school flyer. It was easy to do since we already had some of the key pieces shown, which is part of the reason why the image was so inspiring to us in the first place.
