Measure Without Doing Any Math
Our CenterFinder is more than just a measuring tape, it also simplifies finding the center of anything - a wall, a piece of furniture, a picture frame, or a length of carpet. In a nutshell, it quickly determines the centre of any measurement without having to do any math. How great is that?
Picture hanging tip: odd number of frames is better than even
When hanging pictures, hanging an odd number of frames makes it easy as you center the middle piece with your furniture and then hang the next one(s) either to the left or right. It doesn’t matter.
Is this picture frame the right size for this bathroom?
Is This Picture Frame the Right Size for This Bathroom?Yes! Here's why: I chose to hang only one large frame to counterbalance the scale of the towel rack and the towels below. I used a wide white mat in this tiny bathroom to help reflect daylight and to keep things light from a visual perspective.
To the Rescue: Saving Walls, Fingers and Sanity
We’re beaming with pride, and maybe even blushing a little, after reading a media product review that makes our tools seem almost heroic. The Times of Northwest Indiana calls Hang & Level a “sanity-saver for … anyone with walls.” Their review also praises our Déco Hammer, noting that its ideal size and weight help to make smashed fingers a thing of the past. It may not be quite super-hero stuff, but we’ll gladly settle for everyday household...
Do Crooked Pictures Drive You Crazy?
Yes, they do! There are few things more frustrating than having to adjust or straighten your pictures on a daily basis. After spending so much time choosing and carefully hanging the perfect artwork on your walls, all you want is for it to consistently stay straight and look great. The answer to this common problem is our very own Anchor Points. All you have to do is stick them to the bottom corners of your frames and push the pins into the wall to anchor your frames. Your artwork will stay straight even when you’re dusting or when kids or teenagers are slamming doors!
Tip Tuesday: Mirror Makes Foyer Look Bigger
A mirror by the front door is a must. Not only does it allow you or your guests to take a glimpse at yourself before you head out; a mirror also reflects daylight so if you have a small entrance way it will make the space appear larger and brighter than it actually is. Try it, it really works!
Giving New Life to Old Doors
I’ve always loved old things and I get a kick out of seeing how people give old things a new lease on life. Imagine my joy when I walked into Shuswap Chef, a very small restaurant in British Columbia, to see that they had hung vintage doors from the ceiling to create privacy screens between tables. Brilliant! I had seen doors reincarnated into coat racks, bookshelves, coffee tables, and headboards, but never as suspended screens. The restaurant had various door styles, some with etched glass, some without glass, French style, and one that looked like a ladder. Although they were all different, the doors created a cohesive look while also allowing for privacy while letting day light through to keep the space nice and bright during day time. They also became a real conversation piece for diners in the restaurant.

Feedback Fun with Blondie and Dagwood
This classic comic strip makes us laugh every time. Blondie is clearly hinting that Dagwood needs help with picture hanging, but he doesn't think there's anything wrong with his handiwork. Unlike Dagwood, we love hearing feedback - good, bad or surprising. It helps us understand what's working and what's not for our customers, enables us to improve, and even gives us ideas for using our products in new ways.
Hang a Mirror: Use a Screw and Anchor in One
When I’m hanging something heavy like a mirror or a large piece of artwork with glass, I want to make sure I can be confident that it won’t come crashing to the floor in the middle of the night. Can you imagine the mess a broken mirror would make? And who wants seven years of bad luck?
The Owl Trend is Still Strong… Hoo Knew?
The trend to decorate with owl-themed knick-knacks has been going strong since 2010. I’m not sure if the Harry Potter movies kick-started this trend with its magic, mystery, and ancient wisdom, but all I can say is that the world is still obsessed with them. A recent trip to the mall confirmed that these night creatures are here to stay for at least a little longer.
Throwback Thursday: So Much Paperwork
I’ll never forget October 18, 2004, when we changed my decorating business into a product development, design, marketing and sales company. The name stayed the same, we simply added “Inc” to become Under the Roof Decorating Inc. (UTR). The invention of Hang & Level, our picture-hanging tool, was the catalyst for this major change. We wanted to make picture hanging easier, so with our team we focused on developing a whole line of innovative wall decorating solutions.
