Throwback Thursday: So Much Paperwork

I’ll never forget October 18, 2004, when we changed my decorating business into a product development, design, marketing and sales company. The name stayed the same, we simply added “Inc” to become Under the Roof Decorating Inc. (UTR). The invention of Hang & Level, our picture-hanging tool, was the catalyst for this major change. We wanted to make picture hanging easier, so with our team we focused on developing a whole line of innovative wall decorating solutions.

Here I am (looking quite tense!) with my business partner Kelly at our lawyer’s office doing the official signing that took us around the table. With no sales under our belt, I had no idea then that 10 years later we would be selling our products at over 10,000 stores worldwide, including some of the world’s most successful retailers like Target, The Home Depot, Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, and others.

I will never ever forget this picture and all the memories.
