Get a bold hold with DécoNails™.
Looking for hanging hardware you can trust? DécoNails™ are designed to hold securely in drywall, and work with all common hanging hardware types.
They can hold up to 20 lbs on a single nail, and are designed to be installed in the wall at a 90 degree angle so the plastic head of the nail is flush to the wall. The twisted shaft creates a strong hold while only making a tiny hole.
Select the head size you need for the item you are hanging. No matter which version you select, the head is designed to hold your décor securely up to 20 lbs.
Keep your used DécoNails handy so you can reuse them for another project.
Use the Hang & Level picture hanging tool to mark exactly where the DécoNail goes into the wall. Once you have installed the DécoNail into the wall, your picture will hang in exactly the same spot, every time.
Q: How do I install DécoNails™?
A: Our DécoNails™ are designed specifically to be hammered into the wall at a 90º angle, until the back of the head is flush to the surface of the wall. This will ensure that it is installed securely and will prevent damage to the wall from the nail moving.
Q: How to remove DécoNails™?
A: To remove our DécoNails™ picture hanging nail, simply use the claw end of a hammer underneath the top edge of the nail to pop it out of the wall far enough to slip the claw behind the head of the nail to remove it the rest of the way.
Q: What are the benefits of using DécoNails™ versus picture hanging hooks?
A: Our DécoNails™ picture hanging nails are specifically designed to be the most secure way to hang pictures in drywall. Unlike traditional brass picture hanging hooks, your picture will hang exactly from the point in the wall where you place the nail. The patented head is designed to prevent your artwork from slipping off the nail, and to distribute the weight over a larger surface area, making it more secure and causing less damage to your wall.
Q: Can I use DécoNails™ to hang a shelf?
A: We recommend that you use a traditional wall anchor and screw combination to install wall shelves. The weight loads that wall shelving is subjected to can vary greatly, so it’s important that it is affixed to the wall as securely as possible. With this combination, you can adjust the amount that the screw extends from the wall to perfectly hold your specific wall shelf.
Q: Can I use DécoNails™ with a sawtooth hanger?
A: Yes. Our DécoNails™ are designed to work with all common types of hanging hardware including a sawtooth hanger.

Q: Can I use DecoNail™ to hang a picture that has no hardware?

Q: Do DécoNails™ need to go into a stud?
A: No. Our DécoNails™ are designed specifically to hang artwork in drywall without needing a stud. The reality is that studs are rarely in the right place where you want to hang your artwork, and by using our hangers designed specifically for drywall you can hang your artwork securely with minimal damage, without needing to find a stud.

Q: How big of a hole do DécoNails™ make?
A: The hole is roughly 1/32” in diameter, equivalent to a standard sized finishing nail.
Q: Will pulling out DécoNails™ damage the drywall?
A: No, carefully pulling out the DecoNail™ from the drywall should not result in any damage to the wall. The hole left is roughly 1/32” in diameter, equivalent to a standard sized finishing nail.
Q: Will DécoNails™ hold double the weight if you use 2 of them?
A: No. While it’s true that hanging an item using two hangers will distribute the weight over two points, which will allow you to hang more weight on them together, it will not double the weight capacity for a single hanger. Always follow the recommended weight limits for the product.
Q: Will DécoNails work with any kind of hanging hardware?
A: The patented shape of the DécoNails™ heads are designed to work with all common types of hanging hardware including picture wire, D-rings, sawtooth hooks and keyhole hangers.
Q: Why do you hammer DécoNails™ straight into the wall and not at a 45º angle?
A: Our DécoNails are designed to be nailed straight into the wall at a 90º angle until the head is flush with the surface. This is to prevent any movement of the nail once the artwork is hung. And, it keeps the artwork from moving out of place and prevents damage to your wall.
Q: The DecoNail™ came out of the drywall slightly; is it still secure?
A: Yes. The head of our DécoNails™ may move out of the wall a small amount (i.e. 1/16 ”) before the threads on the shaft prevent it moving further. Hanging your item on the nail head and not behind it, will ensure it continues to hang safely and securely.
Q: What if my sawtooth hanger doesn’t fit in the groove of DécoNail™?
A: DécoNail™ is designed to work with sawtooth hangers. When working properly the sawtooth hanger sits in the groove created by the back of the head and the flange of the head that sits flush to the wall - in this way it holds your item securely. There may be some cases where the sawtooth hanger is too close to the back of the frame, so it will not slip into the groove on the DécoNail.
We have on occasion had a sawtooth hanger where it has been accidentally pushed in at the center towards the decor item and we were able to gently pry up the hanger in the middle, using a flathead screwdriver, so it can be used. However, when taking this course of action it can cause damage to the hanger or the decor item, so it's up to you to assess whether this is something you may want to try.
