Throwback Thursday: So Much Paperwork

Throwback Thursday: So Much Paperwork

I’ll never forget October 18, 2004, when we changed my decorating business into a product development, design, marketing and sales company. The name stayed the same, we simply added “Inc” to become Under the Roof Decorating Inc. (UTR). The invention of Hang & Level, our picture-hanging tool, was the catalyst for this major change. We wanted to make picture hanging easier, so with our team we focused on developing a whole line of innovative wall decorating solutions.

This handy little hammer is the perfect size and weight for picture hanging. Because it has a shorter handle than a regular carpenter’s hammer the Déco Hammer provides a lot more precision, which is the most important factor when it comes to hanging pictures since you don’t require a lot of force. Plus, with the Déco Hammer the chances of hitting your fingers, driving the nail flush into the wall, or completely missing the nail are pretty much eliminated.

Throwback Thursday – Wall Décor on a Budget

In 2010, I was featured on TELUS TV showcasing some innovative ways that you can create huge impact on your walls - not your wallet. We may no longer be in a deep recession, but the economic downturn had a lasting impact on how we live, shop and spend. We still want to create a beautiful and comfortable home we'll love, but we're also looking for ways to trim our spending and balance our budgets. Home décor doesn't have to be expensive. Anything from children's art to cd covers can become art. In fact, some of the most beautiful pieces that have the biggest impression are often the most affordable. Click to view the video.

Hanging pictures at standing eye level can be very confusing … especially if you’re 5’6” and your partner is 6’2”. For pictures that will be viewed from a standing position such as in hallways or an entryway, the best rule of thumb is to position your artwork so its center hangs at 60″ to 66″ from the […]
