How to hang outdoor string lights on brick without damage or tools
Learn how to use this easy, no damage solution to hang outdoor string lights on brick in minutes. We designed DécoBrick™ hangers to install and remove easily without tools or damaging your bricks. Use them to hang all kinds of seasonal décor such as string lights, wreaths, clocks, signs, mailboxes and more.
Easy to install and adjust
Using your fingers, simply hook the bottom of the DécoBrick hanger underneath the bottom edge of the brick, and then using your thumb stretch and hook the top of the hanger to the top edge of the brick. It’s that easy!
To help with installation you can warm up the plastic by gently bending the flexible section back and forth, and twisting it side to side, a couple of times. This will make the plastic easier to stretch onto the brick.
The hanger works on any part of the brick and can be easily adjusted to find just the right spot. You can hang single pieces, string lights or a grouping of items quickly and securely.
Hang string lights in minutes!
Don’t be surprised if it takes you longer to unpack or untangle your lights than to hang them! Getting the lights securely hung with DécoBrick is fast and easy. First, install a number of DécoBrick hangers along the row of bricks at the height where the lights will hang. Then, place the light strand wire over the hooks, and adjust the position of the hangers on the bricks so that the lights hang close to a hook, which provides extra support. Watch this video to see these easy steps.
Project tips
Here are a few tips we’ve learned about hanging string lights. Some lights come with clips, however, we’ve found it much easier to use the wire strand for hanging. Keep the strand taut, but not too tight. The strand will move slightly with the wind and if it is too tight it can pop out the hangers.
Easy to remove and reuse
DécoBrick hangers are easy to remove by reversing the installation process. They can be used again and again for other decorating projects, making it fast and easy to change your décor with the seasons.
Not all bricks are the same
DécoBrick hangers can be used on brick inside or outside your home. They are designed to work with standard North American bricks that are 2 ¼” tall, but will stretch to accommodate slight variations in brick height from 2 ⅛” to 2 ½”. In order to install properly and securely, the mortar needs to be recessed by a minimum of ¼”.
Two head styles to hang all your décor
DécoBrick hangers come in two patented head styles - button and hook. The button head works well for décor with a keyhole, such as mailboxes and clocks. The hook style head works best for items that have picture wire or D-rings, such as wreaths - and is perfect for hanging string lights. Both head styles securely hold up to 15 lbs (7 kg) on brick.

Hi Lee! Thanks for reaching out. If we understand correctly, you want to hang your string lights on the bricks above a door frame. Great! We typically use the Hook style DécoBrick™ hanger for hanging lights. Install a few hangers on the bricks above the door frame, arrange the lights as you wish – with the bulbs pointing up or down. You can easily change a location for the hanger to accommodate where the bulbs are on the string. Happy Decorating! – The UTR Team

Will they hold string lights upside down around brick at top of the door?
