How to hang a frame without scratching the wall
Have you ever struggled getting a picture frame on a hook or nail on the first try? If so, you know how tricky it is. Each time the hook is missed, one more scratch is added to the wall – you try again and again and again hoping that this time you’ll get it. Arghhh!!!! It doesn’t matter if your frame is fitted with a wire, a sawtooth hook, D-ring or keyhole, the challenge is the same and you end up with multiple scratches on the wall.
There is a better way! The trick? Use a flashlight or a miner’s headlamp like I’m doing here (to keep my hands free) and shed some light directly on the back of the frame and wall. Standing from the side of the frame it makes it much easier to guide the hardware directly onto the hook or nail.
This tip works especially well when hanging a large piece of art where you’re dealing with a shadow on the wall making it extra difficult to capture the hook or nail.
