Easy DIY Mother’s Day gift Mom will love

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, if you’re looking for a simple DIY gift idea with big impact, you’ll love this kid-made gift.

One of the best gifts I’ve ever received on Mom’s day is a painting done by one of my daughters that my husband framed and wrapped in brown paper tied with raffia. I love gifts that add personality and soul to a home like this one. It’s also easy to execute, budget friendly and you’re guaranteed that Mom will love it. I sure did!

The painting is a gift I will cherish forever. It was given to me on Mother’s Day 16 years ago and it’s been hanging on the walls of our home since. It’s been moved around a few times to help keep my wall décor fresh and interesting, but I never get tired of it because it’s such a happy piece. Tulips, the sun, blue sky and a happy moon face – what is there not to love? Displaying kids’ art also makes children proud to see their masterpieces up on the walls for everyone to admire.

Before framing your kids’ Picasso, make sure it is signed and dated. It’s a small detail but an important one, especially if one day you’re planning to give it back to your child. My daughter doesn’t know it yet, but I’m planning on giving it to her one day when she gets her very own place.  

I love Mother’s Day because it’s when Dads and kids can plot together to surprise Moms – this homemade gift is the perfect example of that. The most difficult part is making sure kiddies don’t give away the surprise.

Since I can’t always have fresh flowers around, I’m not ashamed to admit that I display faux ones like these white peonies. They’re affordable, pretty and make me happy.

By the way, the big wooden carved M in this picture is for MOM. A simple accessory that reminds me of how lucky I am to be a mom.
