Placing a Bench Under a Gallery Wall
A nicely designed gallery wall with a bench sitting underneath is a trendy look we often see in décor magazines. It looks great, but how practical is it? If you’re not planning to lean against the wall when sitting on the bench, it works perfectly fine. But if you have kids that will be using it every day to put their shoes on, it might not be a practical look for your home.
If a bench is needed, sit on the bench and have someone hold the frames up for you to decide on the safest height to hang your frames. That said, there will be a lot of wall space between your bench and the bottom of your frames that you can visually minimize by adding cushions to the bench.
Note: hallways are busy traffic areas, so make sure to use the proper nails or screws to support the weight of your pieces to prevent them from crashing on the floor or on someone’s head if you have a bench under your display.
