The Owl Trend is Still Strong… Hoo Knew?

The trend to decorate with owl-themed knick-knacks has been going strong since 2010. I’m not sure if the Harry Potter movies kick-started this trend with its magic, mystery, and ancient wisdom, but all I can say is that the world is still obsessed with them. A recent trip to the mall confirmed that these night creatures are here to stay for at least a little longer.

I took some of these pictures at a Pottery Barn store where owls took center stage in Halloween vignettes. They were everywhere: perched on very large black bird cages, on faux tree branches, placed on tables as centerpieces, in the form of salt and pepper shakers, on throw pillows, rugs, tea towels… the list goes on and on and on. Owls are everywhere!

So, if you own anything with owls on it, proudly display it while the trend is still in. If you don’t give a hoot — no worries, you can get on board with the next trendy thing. I’ve heard it might have something to do with insects. Creepy!

As far as I’m concerned, since Owls represent wisdom and power, I’ll proudly continue to wear my black t-shirt embellished with a sequined owl on it.
