Before-and-after bedroom makeover
Spring cleaning is the perfect opportunity to take the time to freshen up your home décor by simply re-arranging the placement of your furniture and accessories. It’s kind of like giving your house a mini makeover by using things you already have, which is exactly what we did with this small bedroom. We created a designer look on a dime, which completely wowed the homeowner.
We started the mini makeover by moving the queen size bed right in front of the windows. The windows, which are framed by curtains, act as a built-in headboard for the bed and create a strong focal point for the room.
Switching the heavy red curtains out for a lighter fabric and color brightens up the room and makes it look more spacious. I traded the busy floral duvet cover for an all-white one, which freshens up the whole space and gives the room a more feminine feel. The pop of red in the pillows adds just the right dose of color to the room to break up all the neutral colors and also ties in nicely with the reddish wooden armoire.
The overall look is cozy, inviting, fresh for Spring, and most importantly it was all done without spending much money.
Things that didn’t change:
- Bedframe and mattress, armoire, night table and paint color (we didn’t repaint)
Things borrowed from other rooms:
- Table lamp and white duvet cover
Things we bought:
If you could give a room in your house a mini makeover, which room would that be?
