All these hats used to sit on a shelf in the front closet of our family cottage. In addition to taking up valuable space I was afraid they might get damaged so I decided to create a hat wall.
This bedroom is very spacious, but it was also very dated. After 17 years of enjoying the old cottage, my husband and I finally bit the bullet and renovated. New flooring, a fresh coat of paint and different furniture placement that's all that was needed to transform this master into a peaceful retreat.
You know that feeling you get when you spot the perfect canvas for that wall that’s been sitting bare for months? It’s exciting, right? Well, we love large canvases, especially given how affordable they are….it makes it easier to decorate a big wall without spending too much money. They come in all shapes and sizes and on just about any subject matter or expression so it’s easy to find one that you’ll like.
I bought a poster 4 years ago, and it’s still sitting in the closet in its original tube. Why? Because I have not figured out how to frame it yet. While watching the Olympics, I thought I’d hang it up to enjoy it and to get inspired. (It’s a vintage-esque ski poster and I love […]
Spring is in bloom, and so is our wall!
Art doesn't have to be expensive. You can make your own, just like we like we did. Aren't these prints beautiful? All we did was build a virtual bouquet - aka, picked photos of flowers that we liked on the internet. We chose mainly peonies because they are great spring flowers and well, it's one of our favorites. We also enlarged portions of the image to focus on aspects of the flowers that we liked.
I love making my own art and I love it even more when I can do it without spending much money. Artwork is the easiest way to update your decor.
I know, we've seen tons of pink hues in last few years but personally, I was not ready to move on to another color until I had my own pink wall. Whether you call it pink, blush or rose, it's feminine without being too girly. When you think pink, don't think for a second that this special spring color is limited to a little girls' rooms. No way! Check out which wall we transformed with this super fab color and the surprising place my inspiration came from!
While watching design TV shows, have you ever noticed that they rarely show you how to hang things up? All you see are people hanging art up, the hooks are already in place. Why is that? Well, it’s simple, it’s because hanging stuff is HARD. It means putting holes in walls and we all know how scary that can be. It’s scary because you don’t want to miss your shot and end up with a bunch of mistake holes that you’ll have to cover up. Arghhhhh…I

Hanging a large mirror can be a real pain. They're usually fitted with a pair of D-Rings to distribute the weight on two contact points, which increases the level of complexity and frustration. Let me show you how I hung this mirror without using a measuring tape or marking the wall with a pencil – and without losing my sanity.
If you stopped straightening your frames because you know they'll end up crooked all over again next time you dust, you're not alone. But life is too short to put up with such niggly little things – here's a cool product that is guaranteed to put an end to crooked pictures.
Decorating with maps is a creative way to decorate walls without spending too much money. I listened to my own advice and added style to a big wall without a big price tag.
When I saw these pretty downloadable plant prints I knew they'd be perfect for my mudroom. The price was right - free. Thanks to Magnolia I created a nature-inspired gallery wall that barely cost anything and looks stunning.
You would think that decorating a small bathroom would be easier than decorating a big one, right? Well, as I recently found out, it took as long to find a shower curtain, towels and art as it did for a bathroom twice the size.
Sectional sofas - we love them because they’re nice and big and they’re perfect for the whole family to snuggle together to watch TV. On the other hand, we hate them because they're big and bulky, take up lots of floor space and never fit perfectly centered against a wall.
