How-Tos and Inspiration
We've had our picnic table for 30 years. When we bought it, it looked terrific. It was sturdy, well built, and the kind of table that would last a lifetime.
Have you ever acquired a piece of furniture that you didn't know what to do with, but you just couldn't say goodbye to? That's the story with this desk... we've had it since the early days of starting our company, Under The Roof Decorating. Although it's all scratched up, and damaged, we've never wanted to part with it because it's part of our story. So, we decided to give it a makeover, and we're so glad we did because we've fallen in love with it all over again.
I love easy and inexpensive DIY projects that deliver big results. I bought this old picture frame at a garage sale, painted it all white and hung it above a queen size bed to create a headboard.
This bedroom is very spacious, but it was also very dated. After 17 years of enjoying the old cottage, my husband and I finally bit the bullet and renovated. New flooring, a fresh coat of paint and different furniture placement that's all that was needed to transform this master into a peaceful retreat.
Last year, I held a quick poll on Facebook and asked whether or not I should paint my bronze equine bookends, white. Most of you said "NO". Well, that was then and this is now. I ended up painting them knowing they would be much more versatile with a fresh coat of white paint (sorry to disappoint you poll-takers)! What a difference!
I know, we've seen tons of pink hues in last few years but personally, I was not ready to move on to another color until I had my own pink wall. Whether you call it pink, blush or rose, it's feminine without being too girly. When you think pink, don't think for a second that this special spring color is limited to a little girls' rooms. No way! Check out which wall we transformed with this super fab color and the surprising place my inspiration came from!
I bought these chairs over 12 years ago. After renovating and changing our wall color, the chairs' dated fabric clashed with our new décor, so I retired them to the basement a few years ago
Hard to believe it's the same room, isn't it? Same bunk beds, same window, same layout but it looks completely different. Check out the before and after pictures of this small cottage bedroom décor.
Finding something fun and interesting to hang above a headboard can be a challenge sometimes. In this case, I chose a grouping of round mirrors to create a playful display and relaxed atmosphere.
Sometimes all a room needs is a fresh coat of paint to bring it to life.
Despite a tight budget and very little time, we were able to transform this teenager’s bedroom into a mature grown-up space that is serene and restful. This one-day makeover was achieved simply by rearranging the furniture, adding new pillows, and by borrowing a few accessories from other rooms in the house.
